Soaps and Detergents Industry Association (SDIA) has been established in 1989 and is continuing its activities at the address below, which is shared with the Cosmetics & Toiletries Industry Association (CTIA):

The Association is carrying out monthly Board and Technical Committee meetings. The Technical Committee has started holding their meetings more frequently due to the EU harmonization studies. The Association has participated in many successful activities, both locally and abroad. SDIA is a full member of AISE (Association Internationale de la Savonnerie, de la Detergence et des Produits d’Entretien - The European Association of Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products). AISE has committees working in various fields of interest to the industry. SDIA representatives have started to participate in committees, especially in the Committee of National Association Directors (CNAD) meetings in order to bring the local legislation in line with EU, and received support and assistance from the AISE on several local activities, especially after Turkey has been accepted as a candidate member for the EU at Helsinki.
 Objectives
SDIA is acting as a coordinator between the Several branches of the governmental bureaucracy (Ministry of Health, Ministry of Industry & Trade, Undersecretariat of the Prime Ministry on Foreign Trade, and the Ministry of Forestry & Environment, etc.), member companies and the industry association in Europe, AISE. Our objective is to establish the solidarity within the Detergents and Cleaning Products Industry in Turkey, to enable follow-up of the recent developments locally and world-wide, to enable the adaptability to technical developments, and to simplify and accelerate solutions to the obstacles and problems facing the Industry.

• Support the development of the detergents & cleaning products industry in Turkey and to contribute to the efforts to uphold and improve the environmental and human health.

• To inform our member companies about the import-export requests, partnership and cooperation proposals, received from third parties and otherwise coming to the attention of our Association.

• To organize or otherwise take part in activities and events with the aim to increase the prestige of the detergents and cleaning products industry in Turkey.

• To convey the information received by the SDIA on seminars, fairs and meetings to our member companies and related bodies of the industry for their advantage and participation.

• To voice and discuss the general matters of the detergents and cleaning products industry with official and/or private bodies in order to resolve the issues in a manner favorable to the industry.

• To cooperate with relevant competent authorities and private organizations on the preparation and improvement of the legislation concerning the detergents and cleaning products industry.

• To establish relations with universities and research institutes working for the scientific and technical development of the local detergents and cleaning products industry.

• To monitor the scientific and technical developments concerning environmental and human health, and inform the membership about the outcome of such developments.

• To increase competitiveness in the sector, by campaigning against fake and counterfeit products, and supporting the member companies’ efforts to conform to international standards such as ISO 9000 and ISO 14000.

• To attend AISE meetings and work groups and to pass the gathered information to members and local authorities to produce training opportunities for the bureaucracy and the member firms.

• To work on Directives concerning the detergents and cleaning products industry in accordance with the EU harmonization efforts, to cooperate with and to join the work groups of the leading industrial organizations in the effort to harmonize the Turkish legislation with that of the EU.
